Shreyas Iyer's recurrent back issue has aggravated again and the batter is set to miss out the remainder of the England Test series.
A lower back issue has been a nuisance for Iyer, which kept him out for more than five months last year. His issue started during the Australia Test series in February last year, and the player missed out on the IPL 2023.

And a deja vu occurs again, the Iyer's back issue has started troubling him again at the same time. Iyer reportedly is dealing with a stiffed back after playing 30 balls and has groin pain, which is a fresh addition to his woes.
"Iyer has informed the Indian team management and the medical staff that his back gets stiff after playing more than 30 balls and he feels pain in his groin while playing forward defence," an unnamed source was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
"Post surgery, he is facing this issue for the first time so he has been advised to rest for a few weeks. He will head to NCA later," the source added.
Iyer's injury comes at a very bad time as the batter is badly out of form and needs runs under his belt to keep him in the India squad. He has gone without a half-century in 13 innings and will now have to wait longer to get back in form.
With Iyer now poised to be sidelined for some time, concern arises on the Kolkata Knight Riders front. The Mumbai player is the captain of KKR and missed out last season, and if the injury is something serious, he may have to sit out of the tournament again.
There is no immediate alarm as the expectation is that the issue will subside with rest and medication. The IPL 2024 will start on March 23, which means there are still around six weeks the Indian batter has to get fit.
As things stand, KKR can be optimistic about having their star batter and captain for the upcoming season, but if any major issue arises for Iyer, the player may require further treatment and that can jeopardize his IPL chances.
