IPL 2024: 'You Have Redifined The Way We Play T20 Cricket' - CEO Kavya Maran Tells SRH Players

Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO Kavya Maran proud of the team's efforts in IPL 2024 despite falling short in the final against Kolkata Knight Riders as she praised the SRH players for redifining the way T20 cricket was played during the season.

On Sunday (May 26), SRH batters struggled and were only able to post 113 in the crucial title clash. In response, KKR chased down the score in 10.3 overs to lift their third IPL title.

Following the loss, the SRH CEO was in tears, but entered the dressing room to motivate the team, thanking the players and team by stating they have made everyone proud.

"You all have made us so proud. I had to come here and tell you that. I mean you have redefined the way we play T20 cricket and everyone is talking about us. The off-day had to happen today, but a great job, all of you with the bat and ball. Thank you so much," Kavya said in a video posted by SRH on X.

SRH broke several records during the season with the bat as they posted the highest score in the history of the competition twice. And also posted the highest powerplay score in IPL history.

The Sunrisers first broke the record against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad with a score of 277/3. And broke that record a few days later by posting 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Kavya Maran further added that the style of cricket played by SRH will keep people talking despite the final loss and felt the fans kept the belief due to the players potential.

"And I think even though we finished last place last year, I think all the fans came out in huge numbers because of the potential you guys had. Everyone's talking about us and even though KKR won, I am sure everyone's still going to be talking about the style of cricket we have played," Kavya concluded.
