IPL 2025: 3 Indian Players To Miss Start Of 17th Edition Of Indian Premier League

IPL 2025: We are less than 11 days away from the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League and few teams will be missing their star players at the start of the campaign.

These absences could impact both teams as they prepare for the new season, with key players racing against time to regain full fitness. As of now, only three Indian players will be missing out of the high-octane action early-on. Here's a look at the stars.

IPL 2025

Jasprit Bumrah: India and Mumbai Indians' star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, retained for ₹18 crore, is also set to miss the initial phase of IPL 2025. The veteran fast bowler, who has been sidelined since January 5 during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to a lower back issue, has resumed bowling but is unlikely to be available for the first two weeks of the tournament.

Mayank Yadav: LSG young pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who was retained for ₹11 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, is expected to miss the first half of the tournament due to injury. As per a report by ESPNCricinfo, the Delhi pacer, who made his India debut last year, is currently recovering from a lumbar stress injury. He has recently resumed bowling at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, but his return to full fitness remains uncertain as of now.

Hardik Pandya: MI Captain Hardik Pandya will be unavailable for their opening clash against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23. Hardik, who took over MI's captaincy last season from Rohit Sharma, received a one-match suspension due to a slow over-rate violation in MI's final group-stage game of IPL 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants. As a result, he will be forced to sit out the highly anticipated season opener.

The much-awaited IPL starts on 22nd March, with the first match between defending Champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
