Commanding the Powerplay

Markram’s role as an opener has paid rich dividends for LSG. Against Delhi, he was off the blocks quickly. A pull for six off Starc set the tone, and by the end of the powerplay, LSG were racing past the 50-run mark, largely thanks to Markram’s fluent 30 off 20 in the first six overs.

His composure allowed Mitchell Marsh to play himself in, while the duo stitched together a meaningful opening partnership that laid the foundation for a strong total. Eventually, it was Dushmantha Chameera who ended Markram’s elegant stay at the crease, but by then, the damage had been done.

A Consistent Engine for LSG

Markram’s purple patch has aligned perfectly with LSG’s ambitions this season. Notably, all three of LSG’s top-order batters – Marsh, Markram, and Nicholas Pooran – now have four 50-plus scores, making them one of the most consistent top-threes in the league.

Only Gujarat Titans' Sai Sudharsan has more (five) in IPL 2025, but with form like this, Markram might soon be sitting at the top of that list.
