IPL 2025: 'Cannot make such mistakes' – Ajay Jadeja tears into these Rajasthan Royals stars for not delivering the result

By MyKhel Staff

The IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals delivered high-octane drama, but what stood out was not just the cricketing brilliance -- it was the scrutiny that followed.

Former India cricketer and JioStar expert Ajay Jadeja didn't mince words in his assessment of Rajasthan Royals' decision-making and execution during the Super Over debacle that handed Delhi a thrilling victory.

Jadeja was particularly unimpressed with the Royals' inability to hold their nerve when it mattered most. "You cannot make such mistakes," he said bluntly on Kuhl Fans Match Centre Live on JioHotstar. His frustration echoed the mood of many viewers, as RR lost both Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal to soft run-outs in the Super Over, consuming just five deliveries while setting a below-par target of 12.

Joining the analysis, fellow JioStar expert Mark Boucher questioned RR's Super Over strategy, notably the absence of Yashasvi Jaiswal among the initial batters. "I don't mind Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag, but their presence didn't make much of a difference in the game," Boucher pointed out.

He highlighted how pressure led to tactical errors, including a no-ball to start the Super Over and the inability to play all six balls-"a target of 11 was always going to be too little," he added.

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, showcased clarity and calm, particularly from KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs. "KL missed that first ball, but after that, he was in full control," Jadeja noted, praising how the Delhi skipper turned the tide after absorbing early pressure. Stubbs then sealed the match with a six off Sandeep Sharma, delivering a clinical finish to an otherwise chaotic game.

Stubbs' redemption arc also became a talking point. From dropping Nitish Rana in regulation play to hammering the winning runs, Stubbs scripted a personal turnaround. "He'll be thankful for that second chance," Boucher said, referencing the missed catch that nearly cost Delhi the game.

But the real turning point came before the Super Over -- Mitchell Starc's jaw-dropping final over. Defending nine runs, the veteran left-armer unleashed a masterclass in yorker execution. "Starc was exceptional... you look to your senior players in big moments, and he delivered," said Boucher, applauding the bowler's composure under pressure.

Jadeja also voiced his optimism for the Capitals' campaign. "This could be their year," he said, noting the team's consistent performances and untapped potential. With five wins from six and a spot at the top of the table, Delhi look poised for a deep playoff run-provided they keep their cool, unlike their opponents on the night.

As for Rajasthan Royals, the lesson was harsh but clear: in the IPL, there's no room for costly missteps, especially when the game goes down to the wire.
