Ravichandran Ashwin has given a clear message on his IPL career following his India retirement.
The off-spinner announced a sudden retirement as an international cricketer on Wednesday (December 18), but has confirmed that he will remain active for the franchise leagues.

Ashwin, who will be part of the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025, asserted that he will be trying to play as many years as possible for CSK in the franchise tournament. The just-retired player is also optimistic of opening the bowling for the five-time IPL champions, if he gets an opportunity.
"I think that part of me is still burning bright [bowling 1st over]. I am going to play for CSK. Don't be surprised if I try and aspire to play for as long as I can. I don't think Ashwin the cricketer is done. I think Ashwin the Indian cricketer has probably called it a time," Ashwin said to reporters after returning to Chennai on Thursday.
The veteran is also keen in playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and will be open to coaching young cricketers. He already has an academy but Ashwin's dream is to expand on a larger scale, preferably across the country.
"I have been running the academy for 13 years. In many ways, I have scouted a lot of cricketers. I play TNPL regularly. My contribution is to pass on my knowledge. I don't teach everyone. As a cricketer, I feel that I contribute by playing small games.
Definitely, I want to go to the academy. In Tamil Nadu, there are people who play U-19 and U-17. I feel that it is enough to touch the lives of those who touch our lives. I think it is a long way to go. I think I can do a lot more. Not just in Chennai. I want to do it all over Tamil Nadu and all over India. I have a desire to do it everywhere," he added.
When asked about his expectations of playing for CSK, the player expressed his elation after being picked by the franchise. With the IPL 2025 starting in March, Ashwin is expected to return to the field in the tournament.
