Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, BCCI and IPL Governing Council announced a list of new rules and regulations on player retention policy and availability of overseas players throughout the season.
On Saturday, September 28, the IPL Governing Council introduced new player retention limits by convening a meeting held in Bengaluru. Along with increasing the purse value for each franchise to INR 120 Cr and increasing the retention limit to six players they also imposed some strict mandates on overseas players for a more streamlined player availability throughout the season. The Right to Match cards have also been reintroduced for the IPL 2025 Auction.
