IPL 2025 Auction: Delhi Capitals Ace at Auction with Balanced Squad Assembled for Title Run

Delhi Capitals, co-owned by JSW and GMR, emerged as one of the most strategic franchises in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, assembling a balanced squad to aim for the coveted title. On Day 2, the franchise picked several impactful players.

This includes former South African captain Faf du Plessis for ₹2 crore and India pacer Mukesh Kumar for ₹8 crore through the Right to Match (RTM) card. Additionally, Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera joined the team for ₹75 lakh.

While domestic talents like Darshan Nalkande (₹30 lakh) and Vipraj Nigam (₹50 lakh) were also secured. Uncapped players like Donovan Ferreira (South Africa) and Indian all-rounders Ajay Mandal, Manvanth Kumar, and Tripurana Vijay were brought in to further strengthen the roster.

Expressing satisfaction, Chairman and Co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi said, "This year, the outcome has been really good. We were well-prepared, we did a lot of scouting, mock auctions, and we did our best. We went as per our plans, and budgets, and we are very happy with the way it went."

Echoing this sentiment, Parth Jindal, Co-owner of Delhi Capitals, highlighted the franchise's meticulous approach. "The auction went completely to our plan. I would like to compliment the entire support staff, who worked tirelessly on devising the entire auction strategy. We have built a very balanced team, we are very happy."

Head Coach Hemang Badani added, "We've done a good job. We've got players that we wanted, and have a good Indian core. It was a complete auction for us, and we are really happy with what we have picked. In two to three months, it will be game time!"

The foundation of Delhi Capitals' squad was laid during Day 1 of the auction, where key players like KL Rahul (₹14 crore), Mitchell Starc (₹11.75 crore), and Harry Brook (₹6.25 crore) were acquired. Domestic players like Sameer Rizvi (₹95 lakh) and Ashutosh Sharma (₹3.80 crore) also bolstered their ranks.

With a mix of experienced international players and promising Indian talent, the team is optimistic about its chances in the upcoming season. The management's efforts have ensured that Delhi Capitals heads into IPL 2025 with a well-rounded squad, capable of delivering strong performances on the field.
