IPL 2025 Auction: Four Teams who are set to fight for India pacer Arshdeep Singh

As the IPL 2025 mega auction approaches, many top cricketing names will be licking their lips for a giant windfall. Indian players will be the flagship attraction in the auction, and when it comes to bowling, there are few bigger than Arshdeep Singh.

The Punjab-born pacer seems to have ended his ties with Punjab Kings not so amicably. After not getting retained, Arshdeep has deleted all his social media photos involving the Kings, which may imply that the bridge has burnt.

Arshdeep won't mind though. The left-arm India pacer has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. Since his debut in 2019, Arshdeep has played 65 IPL matches, picking up 78 wickets in the process. The 25-year-old scalped 19 wickets in IPL 2024 as well, but Punjab's will to head to the auction with a fat purse meant he had no place in their retention list, which would have cost them a mammoth Rs 18 crore.

But Arshdeep's name is set to create urgencies among franchises, as many in the room would love to have him in the squad. Here are four teams who are likely to fight for the India star-

Rajasthan Royals

With just Sandeep Sharma as the solitary bowling option retained, Rajasthan Royals would love to have someone like Arshdeep Singh in the team. Although RR do have the least purse in the auction, they may eye to snatch Arshdeep in the auction. The India pacer is likely to be a marquee player, which means he will be arriving early in the queue - which curbs RR's chances for acquiring him.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders are definitely expected to make a move for Arshdeep Singh. The KKR camp have huge admiration for the pacer and he is someone who will complete KKR's Indian pacer quota with Harshit Rana already in the team. There have been unconfirmed reports of KKR's interest in Arshdeep, but he will cost a fortune.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals have a decent purse available, and they can eye to bring someone like Arshdeep Singh in the team. Bowling has been an achilles heel for DC over the years and they would like to address that with a marquee signing. Arshdeep, along with retained Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav would definitely create a strong Indian bowling core for the Capitals. It is a crucial component to have a strong bowling lineup and the Capitals may eye that to break the IPL duck.

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans are in need of a pacer. They have a decent purse in the auction and can spend big for one marquee player. The batting and spin department is partially sorted for Titans with Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan - hence they would definitely love to bolster pace department. Arshdeep Singh's acquisition will be a massive coup for the Titans, and the player will benefit with a move to the Titans as well, especially with Ashis Nehra at the helm.
