For the upcoming IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans have retained five players and maintained the core team in a balanced approach. However, the South African star batter David Miller did not cut the retention list and will enter the mega auction later this month.
Miller joined the Titans in IPL 2022 for a price of Rs. 3 crore and had an excellent season with the franchise. Miller amassed a total of 481 runs in 16 matches and was crucial to make the Titans champions that season. But in the following two seasons, his form dropped significantly, which eventually led to the release of this explosive batter.

David Miller’s ability to play explosive knocks and expertise as a finisher, along with his vast IPL and international experience, makes him an attractive option for teams aiming to solidify their middle order. Here are a few teams that could potentially target him for IPL 2025-
Mumbai Indians (MI)
Despite having a strong middle order consisting of batters like Hardik Pandya and Tilak Verma, a spot can be there for Miller as they have not retained any overseas players. For a team like MI, where an aggressive lower-middle-order batter always played a crucial role, Miller would be a perfect fit. Miller could be a perfect replacement for the void created after the retirement of Kieron Pollard.
Punjab Kings (PBKS)
Miller started his IPL journey from this franchise and, from 2013 to 2015, played crucial roles in their journeys. Before the upcoming auction, PBKS have gone for a complete revamp of their squad and an experienced batter will be required to provide the necessary depth in the batting order. With his experience, playing style and long connection with the franchise, the South African batter will be a good choice for PBKS.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
With two of the best finishers in IPL history, MS Dhoni nearing the end of his IPL career and Ravindra Jadeja past his best times as lower order batter, CSK may look for a reliable finisher and middle-order option. A lesser depth in their batting line-up cost them many matches in the last IPL campaign, inclusion of Miller can alleviate the problem.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
With only three retained players, RCB have to build a new middle-order batting line-up for the next IPL. For a traditionally batting-heavy team like RCB, an extra big-hitter like Miller is much necessary. In all the past IPL auctions, the franchise spent heavily on the batters, especially the big hitters. Hence, there is a high possibility that RCB will go for this South African hard-hitter.
