The first day of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction unfolded in dramatic fashion in Jeddah as the franchises dipped into an intense battle of bidding to acquire their long list of players.
Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants went into a spending spree, while Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals had comparatively quieter day in Jeddah. As the teams have conjured up parts of their squad ahead of next season, the 2nd day is set to bring a similar intense battle for the remaining list of players.

Arshdeep Singh was roped in by Punjab Kings for Rs 18 crore as the first signing of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Rishabh Pant went to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore and is now the most expensive player in history of the IPL. Shreyas Iyer also switched KKR for Punjab Kings and was bought for a massive Rs 26.75 crore. The Knight Riders stayed resilient and re-signed Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 23.75 crore, an amount which is more than Virat Kohli's retention price, while KL Rahul was sold to Delhi Capitals for a comparatively modest Rs 14 crore.
The ten franchises combined splashed Rs 467.95 crore on 72 players on the first day as first 12 sets of the players were auctioned.24 overseas players were soled while 4 RTM cards were used. 12 players remain unsold on the first day.
RTM Cards: A total of 10 RTM cards can be used by the franchises on Day 2 of the auction.

The IPL 2025 auction Day 2 will start on Monday (November 25) at 1 pm local time in Jeddah, which is 3:30 pm IST in India.
There will be a total of 493 players up for grabs on the second day of IPL 2025 Auction.
The IPL Auction Day 2 will start with Set 13 on Monday, which is the Capped Batters 2 (BA2) category. Following the batters, the all-rounders (AL2), wicketkeeper (WK2), fast bowlers (FA2) and spinners (SP2), which will conclude at Set 17.
A total of 32 players from the aforementioned five sets will have the traditional auction. After that, player numbers 117 to 577 will be undergoing an accelerated auction.
An accelerated auction is a process where the franchises are told to pick 25 players whom they want to be named in the auction. The accelerated list is generally pre-submitted by all the 10 franchises before the auction.
The remaining list will be auctioned in the fast-tracked process. Even after the accelerated auction, there is likely to be a concluding auction where the franchises may be told to name 5 players each and those names will go under the hammer for the final time in the mega auction.
A plethora of top players will be auctioned on Monday, Day 2 of the mega event. Some of the prominent names are - Faf du Plessis, Marco Jansen, Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman, Krunal Pandya, Prithvi Shaw, Mukesh Kumar, Washington Sundar and many more.
