Indian pacer Deepak Chahar is hopeful Chennai Super Kings buy him back at the upcoming IPL Mega Auction 2025, which is scheduled to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The 32-year-old has been part of the Chennai-based franchise since 2018 season when he was bought in that year's mega auction as an uncapped player for Rs 80 Lakhs. Chahar, however, was released ahead of the IPL 2025 auction as CSK opted to retain only five players.

Chahar, who had become a prominent member in the Indian white-ball team, was also released by CSK before the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, but the five-time champions bought back the pacer for a whopping Rs 14 Crore at the big auction.
Recalling how CSK went all out to buy him back in the last big auction, Chahar is unsure if the Chennai Super Kings will go to that extent, but reminded CSK about his ability to dominate with the ball in the powerplay.
"I was not retained by them in the last mega auction as well. But they went all out for me and bought me back," Chahar said in an interview with the Times of India (TOI).
"I don't know what will happen this year, but I know my skill will be valued more now given the fact that around 90-100 runs are being scored in the Powerplay and that's why the teams are scoring more than 200 more frequently. I have proved how valuable I can be in limiting runs in that phase of the game."
While he hoped CSK and Mahendra Singh Dhoni will bring him back to CSK, Chahar doesn't mind his state-based team Rajasthan Royals bid for him at the IPL Mega Auction 2025.
"I think they (CSK) will bid for me again. I would like to don the yellow jersey again and if not that, then I would want Rajasthan Royals to bid for me," Chahar added.
CSK has retained Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana and Shivam Dube ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, where they will have an option to use one Right to Match (RTM) card.
CSK may opt to use the RTM if they find the final bid worth matching for one of their released players. Chahar could be among the players being discussed by the franchise, but they also have several others on the list.
They will still, however, have the chance to buy the player outright at the auction should the funds allow the same. But they may look at Tushar Deshpande above Chahar after the recent seasons' display.
Chahar, who has had injury-hit seasons in the recent years, made his IPL debut under MS Dhoni at Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016. While he made just three appearances for the Pune franchise, Chahar grew into a first-choice player under the same captain in CSK.
In 81 IPL Matches, Chahar claimed 77 wickets at an economy rate of 7.98. In the powerplay, the right-arm pacer has claimed 58 wickets, showcasing his dominance in the first six overs of an innings.
