The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the IPL 2025 mega auction, set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. This historic event will mark the second consecutive IPL auction held outside of India.
With an astounding 1,574 players registered, the auction offers slots for 204 cricketers across 10 teams. Notably, 48 capped Indian players, including stars like Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, are set to go under the hammer, joined by hundreds of uncapped and international players, expanding the talent pool.
Teams have collectively retained 46 players, leaving them with a compiled budget of ₹641.5 crore to bid on new talent. Among the franchises, Punjab Kings have the highest budget at ₹110.5 crore after retaining two players, while Rajasthan Royals holds the smallest purse at ₹41 crore.
The auction’s timing coincides with India’s Test series against Australia in Perth, adding extra tension for Indian cricket. The auction will span the third and fourth days of the Test match, promising an intense weekend for fans and franchises alike.
