With the IPL 2025 auction nearing, the franchises must have already started to chalk out their plans for the mega auction.
The new cycle of the Indian Premier League will commence at the auction table, as the ten teams look to finalize their retention list and then sit at the bidding war to formulate their squad.

A number of big names will be up for the auction who are likely to fetch a gargantuan amount, but be assured that a few lesser-known names are also set to get some big bucks. Although Indian players have more value in the auction, the overseas youngsters have also found relevance in the past few years.
And as the auction is on the horizon, a youngster from Afghanistan can make a huge mark.
Sediqullah Atal, a lanky left-handed batter from Afghanistan has been making waves int he ongoing Emerging Asia Cup T20. The 23-year-old opener has been a sensation in the tournament, amassing 313 runs in just four matches at an average of 104 and a strike rate of 161.
He has dismantled all the bowlers across the tournament and has played a huge part in taking Afghanistan A to the final of the tournament. The southpaw boasts power-hitting along with immense batting skills. Along with that, his ability to play big knocks has caught the eye.
As the IPL auction arrives, the southpaw may have a few teams involved in a bidding war for him. Here are four teams who may want the Afghan-
Lucknow Super Giants: Lucknow are in need of an opener and Sediqullah Atal can be a backup option for someone like Quinton de Kock if the South African is retained. The youngster has a huge potential and LS may eye to bring him.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: With Virat Kohli set to stay, RCB can bring in someone like Sediqullah Atal and pair them at the top. Kohli's measured approach and Atal's aggression can make the pair a perfect combination for them. Also, the Afghan youngster will learn a lot about the game with someone like Kohli alongside him.
Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR have had Rahmanullah Gurbaz in their side but the Afghan player may not be retained. If the Knights fail to re-sign Gurbaz in the auction, they can eye on Atal as an opener along with someone like Sunil Narine - which will guarantee mayhem and sixes galore.
Punjab Kings: Punjab are likely to be in the auction with the biggest purse and that means they can pay the extra bucks if someone like Atal arrives late in the auction. With the unstable core in the Punjab team, they can look to build a strong unit with Atal being a part of it.
