The South African right-arm fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been released by Delhi Capitals before the IPL 2025 mega auction which is scheduled to be held later this month. DC have gone for a rearranging of their squad for the next season, and Nortje did not make it to the retention list.
Anrich Nortje, known for his pace and aggressive bowling style, joined the Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2020 as a replacement player. In his debut season, Nortje quickly became a key bowler for DC, consistently delivering impactful performances, particularly in the powerplay and death overs.

That season Nortje bagged 22 wickets for DC. Despite performing well and maintaining a decent economy rate, injury setbacks limited his chances in IPL. The right-arm fast bowler has played 46 IPL matches so far and collected 60 wickets with an economy rate of 8.96.
Anrich Nortje, with his raw speed and aggressive bowling, is a lethal bowler in the death overs. Due to this wicket-taking ability, he is expected to be targeted by a few of the franchises who are looking for a player of a similar profile
RCB retained only three players before the mega auction, and the only bowler among them is the left-arm medium pacer, Yash Dayal. Hence, a right-arm fast bowler like Nortje, with the ability to bowl over 150 kmph speed will certainly fit the profile RCB will be looking for.
The Titans have retained all of the key players from the former squad. However, the list is devoid of any fast bowler. In the last season, none of their pacers made a significant impact. GT will likely find a new face to fill the spot of a right-arm fast bowler and Nortje could be a great option for them to consider.
After releasing most of the squad PBKS will enter the auction with the largest purse. However, they had to make the team from scratch. If the Indian left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is bought back by the franchise with RTM, then the spot for a right-arm pacer will still be vacant. Nortje could be a good option to replace his compatriot, Kagiso Rabada, for the same role.
