The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is around the corner, and teams are gearing up to strengthen their squads.
Prithvi Shaw is poised to attract significant interest from franchises despite his recent blues.

The Mumbai batter was released by Delhi Capitals after a dismal show in the last IPL cycle. He scored only 198 runs in eight matches last season with a paltry show in most of the encounters. The IPL 2023 was very poor as well, as he only managed 106 runs at an average of 13.25. DC bought Shaw for Rs 8 crore, and a total of just 587 runs across three seasons was not good at all.
But the talented India player has the time alongside him. Although he was recently left out from the Mumbai Ranji squad as well, teams may want him at least as a backup player in the squad. Here are three teams that may want to sign Prithvi Shaw in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
CSK, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, has a history of nurturing young talent. With Shaw's explosive batting style and ability to provide aggressive starts, he could be an ideal person at the top with the CSK captain. The presence of MS Dhoni can also be an enticing factor for the 25-year-old to revive his career.
RCB have consistently sought to strengthen their batting, and Shaw's inclusion could provide the necessary firepower. With Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, Shaw would form a formidable top-three, allowing RCB to dominate opposition bowlers. Shaw's ability to rotate strike and score big would complement the Bengaluru side massively. The biggest positive will be Prithvi's aggression, which will allow Kohli to play an anchor role.
The son of soil Prithvi Shaw may have interest from Mumbai Indians, because he fits the bill perfectly at the Paltans. The five-time champions have released Ishan Kishan, which opens up a place for Shaw in the team - and with greats like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav as teammates, that is exactly what the player may need. Shaw's familiarity with Wankhede Stadium is an added bonus for Mumbai Indians, who may not mind giving the Mumbaikar a chance for revival.
