Umran Malik, a rising star in Indian cricket, is renowned for his express pace and raw energy as a right-arm fast bowler. Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, he gained widespread attention in the IPL for consistently clocking speeds above 150 kmph, making him one of the fastest bowlers.
The 23-year-old Indian pacer made his debut in IPL 2021 for Sunrisers Hyderabad and got retained by SRH for Rs. 4 crores in the IPL 2022 mega auction. He has played 26 matches in the IPL so far and managed to bag 29 wickets in this short period. IPL 2022 was the stand-out season for the pacer as he bagged 22 wickets in that season for SRH. However, SRH released Malik before the IPL 2025 mega auction.

His aggressive approach and ability to extract movement at high speeds make him a potent wicket-taker, particularly in the middle overs. However, his accuracy and control remain areas for development, as he sometimes leaked runs due to poor control in the past few seasons.
Gujarat Titans have retained their core team intact, but they are lacking a fast bowler option for the next IPL. Having a fast bowler option like Malik can complement a specialist bowler like Rashid Khan.
DC have retained their spin unit intact for the next IPL, by retaining Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. However, they will be looking for an Indian pace option in the upcoming mega auction, and Malik could be a perfect fit for the role.
RCB have gone for a complete revamp of their squad, and their only pace option is the left-handed medium pacer Yash Dayal. Having a right-arm speed star like Umran Malik would complete their pace attack, which is essential for the franchise.
