Kolkata Knight Riders have utilized their maximum retention quota with six players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
The retention deadline on October 31 saw the Knight Riders tying down six of their champions from the IPL 2024 season.

Two seasoned campaigners Andre Russell and Sunil Narine were tied down after their excellent campaign earlier this year. Andre Russell was effective with bat and ball, while Narine, as always, majestic with the ball and devastating with the bat.
KKR also retained Varun Chakravarthy, whose IPL plaudits have earned him a place in the Indian T20 side. The mystery spinner scalped 21 wickets last season, the most for KKR in their title-winning journey. And the most expensive retention is Rinku Singh, who has been retained for Rs 13 crore. Apart from that, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh are also set to continue their adventure with the Knights.
As the mega auction returns again after three years, KKR will now have to focus on the rebuilding of the squad. Although they have managed to keep some of their core players, the three-time IPL champions will have to formulate the team around them. KKR will also be heading into the auction with a purse of Rs 51 crore.
In the IPL 2022 mega auction, Kolkata Knight Riders came into the auction after retaining four players. Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy made the list, while Venkatesh Iyer was the other player.
Kolkata Knight Riders bought Shreyas Iyer for Rs 12.25 crore, their most expensive buy in the last auction. Nitish Rana was the second most expensive pick for KKR for Rs 8 crore, whereas their most expensive buy in that mega auction was Australia's Pat Cummins, who was roped in for Rs 7.25 crore. Indian pacer Shivam Mavi was bought for Rs 7.25 crore while both Sam Billings and Umesh Yadav were also picked at their base price of Rs 2 crore.
