Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have named three retentions.
The RCB franchise has locked in Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal in their lineup at least for the next season.

Notably, this move sees the exclusion of significant players such as Glenn Maxwell, Will Jacks, Mohammed Siraj, and even their captain Faf du Plessis from the retained list. Although Cameron Green was originally slated to be in the list, his injury forced the franchise to keep him out.
RCB have allocated Rs 21 crore for Virat Kohli, Rs 11 crore for Rajat Patidar, and Rs 5 crore for Yash Dayal. This leaves the Bengaluru-based franchise with a substantial Rs 83 crore to invest in the auction, which they will be hoping to utilize properly.
RCB, a much-celebrated team, is yet to win the IPL despite all the hype and big names in their team. As another mega auction arrives, the main aim will be to form a balanced side which can make a strong bid for the title in the upcoming years.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru splashed Rs 33 crore in retentions in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Virat Kohli was kept for Rs 15 crore, while Glenn Maxwell was also retained for Rs 11 crore. Mohammed Siraj was the final retention pick for Rs 7 crore. In the mega auction, they had a purse of Rs 57 crore.
Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel were jointly the highest buys for RCB in the auction. The Sri Lankan all-rounder and the Indian pacer were picked up for Rs 10.75 crore each in the auction. Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood was picked for Rs 7.75 crore, whereas RCB signed their captain Faf du Plessis for Rs 7 crore. Dinesh Karthik was another top pick for Bengaluru for Rs 5.5 crore.
