Bhuvneshwar Kumar etched his name in the IPL history books by equaling Dwayne Bravo's long-standing record for the most wickets taken by a pacer in IPL history.
The milestone was reached during the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday (April 2) in IPL 2025.

The moment came in the fifth over of GT's innings when Bhuvneshwar dismissed the opposition skipper Shubman Gill. Bowling with his trademark accuracy, he delivered a deceptive ball that enticed Gill into going for a big shot, only to mistime it and find Liam Livingstone at mid-off. This wicket marked Bhuvneshwar's 183rd in the IPL, bringing him on par with Bravo's record.
With this feat, Bhuvneshwar now sits alongside Bravo as the joint-highest wicket-taker among pacers in IPL history. He also climbs further up the overall charts, trailing only behind the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Piyush Chawla, who lead the all-time list. Kumar now just needs one wicket to become the pacer with most wickets in competition's history.
Bhuvneshwar's journey has been one of consistency and resilience. Known for his ability to swing the new ball and deliver under pressure in the death overs, he has been a vital cog in every team he's represented. His adaptability and skill have kept him relevant across multiple seasons in the fast-evolving T20 format.
As for the match, RCB posted a competitive total of 170 after a strong top-order performance. Gujarat Titans, despite early hiccups including the loss of their captain to Bhuvneshwar, chased down the target with a composed batting display.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar joined RCB this season for a whopping amount of Rs 10.75 crore in the auction. The veteran has been a prolific wicket-taker in the tournament. He started his journey with RCB but never played a match for them in the IPL before joining Pune Warriors India in 2011. He spent at Sunrisers Hyderabad for the past 11 seasons and got 157 wickets for them.
