IPL 2025 Captains: Star India all-rounder Axar Patel's appointment as Delhi Capitals' captain on Friday (March 14) confirmed the skippers of all ten teams ahead of the Indian Premier League season 18.
Already experiencing captaincy last year, Axar now takes over the role on the full-time basis following the departure of former DC captain Rishabh Pant, who will now lead his new side Lucknow Super Giants after his big money acquisition at the IPL Mega Auction.

The 31-year-old Indian all-rounder Axar pipped former IPL captains KL Rahul and Faf Du Plessis to the vacant DC captaincy post. While Rahul had led Punjab Kings and LSG most recently, Du Plessis had captained Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the past three seasons.
Following Du Plessis departure, RCB named Rajat Patidar as the men's team. The 31-year-old Madhya Pradesh skipper was one of the five captaincy appointments this season. Pant and Shreyas Iyer, who moved to new teams as the most expensive players in IPL history, also took on captaincy roles.
Pant, who switched Delhi Capitals for LSG, was named the captain of the Sanjiv Goenka owned side earlier this year, when Punjab Kings appointed Shreyas Iyer as the skipper following his release from the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
Defending champions KKR named Ajinkya Rahane as their captain. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians confirmed Hardik Pandya will continue to lead the side despite an unrest among supporters last season.
Like Mumbai Indians, fellow five-time champions Chennai Super Kings also have retained Ruturaj Gaikwad at the helm despite the team finishing outside the playoff places last season. Similarly, inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals will continue with Sanju Samson leading the side for another season.
Gujarat Titans, who appointed Shubman Gill as the captain following Hardik's exit from the franchise, have also retained the young Indian batter as skipper for the upcoming 2025 edition of IPL.
Also, Sunrisers Hyderabad has retained Australian pacer Pat Cummins as the skipper following the franchise's runner up finish last season. Here is a look at the captains list ahead of IPL 2025:
