IPL 2025: CSK, RCB, MI, KKR and other franchise captains to meet in Mumbai on March 20

By MyKhel Staff

With just days to go before the IPL 2025 season kicks off, all ten franchise captains, along with team managers, are set to meet at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai on March 20 for a crucial pre-season briefing.

As per official communication sent by the BCCI/IPL management, the meeting will take place at noon at the Cricket Centre and is expected to last for an hour. Team representatives will be briefed on the latest updates, additions, and modifications for the upcoming season.

Following the briefing, a series of sponsor engagements have been scheduled at the Taj Hotel, culminating in the traditional pre-season photoshoot featuring all captains.

This annual gathering of IPL captains is usually held in the city hosting the season opener. However, the decision to hold it at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai hints at a possibly significant agenda beyond the standard regulatory review.

Confirmed IPL 2025 Captains

All ten IPL franchises have finalized their captains for the season. Delhi Capitals recently appointed Axar Patel as their leader, while the remaining captains are:

  • Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians)
  • Pat Cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
  • Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings)
  • Rajat Patidar (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)
  • Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants)
  • Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings)
  • Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals)
  • Ajinkya Rahane (Kolkata Knight Riders)
  • Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans)

Several captains and key players have already reported to their respective camps. Notably, Australian skipper Pat Cummins landed in Hyderabad on Sunday and has confirmed his full availability for the season, despite the World Test Championship final at Lord's on June 11 -- just weeks after the IPL final on May 25.

The highly anticipated IPL 2025 season is set to commence on March 22 at Eden Gardens, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the opening encounter. As teams finalize their preparations, the upcoming captain's meet will serve as a key moment before the tournament officially gets underway.
