A sumptuous performance from the Punjab Kings saw them secure a pivotal win in the IPL 2025 over Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday (April 30).
Opting to bowl first, PBKS faced a formidable challenge as CSK's Sam Curran delivered an impressive innings, scoring 88 runs off 47 balls. Despite Curran's efforts, CSK's momentum was disrupted by Yuzvendra Chahal's exceptional 19th over, where he claimed four wickets, including a hat-trick, restricting CSK to a total of 190 runs in 19.2 overs.

In response, PBKS's chase was anchored by Prabhsimran Singh's 54 off 36 balls and Captain Shreyas Iyer's commanding 72 off 41 balls. Their partnership laid a solid foundation, and despite a few setbacks, PBKS reached the target, finishing at 194/6 in 19.4 overs.
This victory propels PBKS to second place in the standings with 13 points, while CSK, with only two wins from ten matches, are now out of playoff contention.
The match's decisive moment occurred in the 19th over of CSK's innings. Yuzvendra Chahal, brought back into the attack, delivered a game-changing over. After being hit for a six by MS Dhoni on the first legal delivery, Chahal dismissed Dhoni on the very next ball. He then proceeded to claim the wickets of Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj, and Noor Ahmad in consecutive deliveries, completing a remarkable hat-trick. This over saw CSK collapse from 184/5 to 190 all out, dramatically shifting the game's momentum in PBKS's favor.
Chahal's spell not only marked his second IPL hat-trick but also made him the first bowler to achieve a hat-trick against CSK in the tournament's history. His performance was instrumental in restricting CSK to a subpar total, setting the stage for PBKS's successful chase.
