Rajasthan Royals ended their IPL 2025 campaign on a high with a convincing six-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in Match 62 of the season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
While both teams had already been eliminated from playoff contention, the clash served as an opportunity to end on a positive note-and RR took that chance with both hands.

Chennai, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, put up 187 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings never truly found fluency despite a few standout efforts. Teenager Ayush Mhatre impressed with a breezy 43 off just 20 deliveries, injecting much-needed acceleration in the middle overs. Shivam Dube also contributed with a steady 39 from 32 balls, but the side kept losing wickets at regular intervals, preventing them from fully capitalizing on their starts.
The Royals' bowlers maintained consistent pressure throughout the innings. Akash Madhwal emerged as the pick of the bowlers, claiming three key wickets while conceding just 29 runs. He was well-supported by Yudhvir Singh Charak, who also bagged three wickets, albeit going for 47 runs in his four overs. Their efforts, coupled with disciplined bowling in the death overs, ensured CSK didn't cross the 190-mark, which at one stage looked quite achievable.
Rajasthan's chase began cautiously, but once opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore departed early, the stage was set for something special-and it came in the form of a game-changing partnership between skipper Sanju Samson and 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
The pair added 98 runs for the third wicket, seizing complete control of the game. Suryavanshi lit up the evening with an audacious knock of 57 off just 33 balls, smashing four boundaries and four sixes in a fearless display of strokeplay. At the other end, Samson provided the calm anchor with a composed 41 off 31 balls, rotating strike and letting his young partner express himself freely.
Though both batters were dismissed in quick succession, the finishing touch came from Dhruv Jurel, who hammered an unbeaten 31 from just 12 balls to seal the game with 17 balls to spare.
The turning point of the match was undoubtedly the third-wicket partnership between Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sanju Samson. Their 98-run stand not only repaired the early loss but completely swung the momentum in Rajasthan's favor.
Suryavanshi, in just his debut IPL season, showcased incredible maturity and fearlessness beyond his years. His clean hitting, particularly against spin, forced CSK's bowlers into defensive lines. Samson's presence at the other end gave the youngster confidence and allowed the partnership to flourish. Together, they took the game away from Chennai in the middle overs and laid the perfect platform for a comfortable finish.
