Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured a thumping win over Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 match on Sunday.

The match itself was a testament to RCB's dominance. After winning the toss and opting to field, RCB restricted RR to 173/4, with Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scoring with 75 runs. RCB's chase was anchored by a solid opening partnership between Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, who scored 65 and 62* respectively. Padikkal's steady innings ensured that RCB reached the target comfortably in just 17.3 overs.​

Devdutt Padikkal also played a decent knock as the southpaw remained unbeaten on 40 runs. Along with that, the Karnataka batter etched his name into the RCB history books as well.

Devdutt Padikkal has become only the second Indian batsman to surpass 1,000 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, following in the footsteps of the legendary Virat Kohli.

Padikkal's journey with RCB began in 2020, where he quickly made an impact by scoring 473 runs in his debut season and earning the Emerging Player Award. After stints with other franchises, he returned to RCB in 2025, bringing his experience and skill back to the team. In the match against RR, Padikkal contributed an unbeaten 40 runs, showcasing his maturity and consistency at the crease.​

Padikkal's achievement is not just a personal milestone but also a significant contribution to RCB's campaign in IPL 2025. His ability to perform under pressure and build partnerships adds depth to RCB's batting lineup, complementing the prowess of players like Kohli and Salt.​

"Hopefully I can continue scoring runs against everybody. I love playing for this franchise and I really care for this franchise and hopefully, I can continue to perform for them," Padikkal said.
