As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season approaches, players from Karnataka have emerged as promising talents to watch. A number of cricketers from Karnataka will be in the IPL action as the extravaganza starts from March 22.
KL Rahul is the flagship Karnataka star who will be representing the Delhi Capitals. The India batter was bought by DC for Rs 13 crore. On the other hand, another Karnataka veteran, Manish Pandey, is set to continue his KKR journey this season as well. Apart from that, a few of the Karnataka players were bought in the auction and the expectations are high for them to deliver.

Shreyas Gopal, a seasoned leg-spinner, has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket. After a superb Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he continued his form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT), emerging as the tournament's second-highest wicket-taker with 18 wickets from 10 matches, playing a pivotal role in Karnataka's title win. Despite Karnataka's early exit in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Gopal managed to claim 20 wickets from eight innings at an average of 25.
His inclusion in CSK's squad adds depth to their spin department, and his experience could be invaluable on spin-friendly tracks. Gopal was roped in by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 30 lakh in the auction and will be hoping to make a mark in the tournament.
Abhinav Manohar has been a rising star in Karnataka's batting lineup. Known for his aggressive stroke play and ability to anchor innings, he was a hot pick in the IPL 2025 auction as Sunrisers Hyderabad splashed Rs 3.2 crore for his signature.
The 30-year-old has represented Gujarat Titans in the IPL before but is yet to showcase his prowess in the tournament. SRH, who already have a fearsome batting lineup, added Manohar to further bolster themselves and the Karnataka player would be desperate to deliver this time. Manohar can be used as a finisher or his role can also be as an impact player for SRH.
Vyshak Vijaykumar had a terrific outing with RCB last season but it was Punjab Kings who spent Rs 1.8 crore for his signature in the auction. The Karnataka pacer is blessed with excellent control and variation, which is key in the T20 format. PBKS do have a strong bowling lineup and Vyshak is expected to play a key role for them.
But the 28-year-old will have to quickly return to match fitness as he will be playing his first competitive cricket this season in the IPL 2025. Vyshak's form will be tested as well as the pacer could only manage 10 wickets for Karnataka across all formats last season.
Devdutt Padikkal has been a prolific run-scorer for Karnataka and has previously showcased his talent in the IPL. His elegant stroke play and consistency at the top order make him a valuable asset. But form and T20 batting style have been the achiles heel for Padikkal which resulted in underwhelming stints with Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals for the southpaw.
RCB's acquisition of Padikkal aims to bolster their opening combination or at no.3 and the player will also be aiming for a fresh start at his home franchise. Padikkal's talent needs a swift transition into proper execution, and RCB will be hoping for the same.
Luvnith Sisodia, a young wicketkeeper-batsman, has been making strides in domestic circuit. His agility behind the stumps, combined with his aggressive batting style, caught the attention of the Kolkata Knight Riders. In the auction, KKR secured his services for Rs 30 lakh.
Sisodia is coming into the IPL with decent form in T20 cricket. The 25-year-old played for Gulbarga Mystics in the Karnataka T20 league and scored over 300 runs for them. The southpaw's raw hitting ability was also in display in KKR's practice match at the Eden Gardens recently. He can be a good option for the Knight Riders at the top and coupled with his glove work, the Karnataka player has the potential to become a mainstay in the KKR side this year.
Gujarat Titans broke the bank to secure Prasidh Krishna's services for IPL 2025. The lanky pacer has showcased his mettle in the IPL in the past and is regarded as one of the top talents. Krishna has been in around the India team and was part of the World Cup 2023 squad as well.
But this season will be a huge one for him. The 29-year-old hasn't featured in the last two IPL seasons and despite that, the Rs 9.50 crore deal to Titans was a reward for his talent. It is to be seen how he executes as the season gets underway.
