As the dust settles on an unforgettable tournament, it's time to look at the unfortunate bunch who make up the IPL 2025 Flop XI - a lineup that perfectly captures the harsh realities of cricket's most glamorous league.

Despite playing all eight matches for Chennai Super Kings, Ravindra failed to leave a lasting impact, scoring just 191 runs at an average of 27.29. His highest score of 65* was a bright spot, but his overall strike rate of 128.18 was far from spectacular. In a season where explosive opening partnerships were crucial, Ravindra’s inconsistent batting made him one of the first names on the flop list.
The South African wicketkeeper-batter had an underwhelming campaign with Kolkata Knight Riders. Although his best knock was an impressive 97*, De Kock struggled in the remaining matches, managing just 143 runs at a low average of 23.83. His strike rate of 137.50, while decent, didn’t reflect the explosive performances expected from him in the top order.
Reddy, one of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s top-order hopefuls, had a nightmare season. Scoring just 152 runs in nine matches at an average of 21.71, his batting was extremely inconsistent. His highest score of 32 showed flashes of promise, but his poor strike rate of 113.43 and lack of big innings left his side in need of a better top-order contributor.
The dynamic Venkatesh Iyer failed to capitalise on the expectations of being a middle-order stabiliser for KKR. He managed only 135 runs from eight matches, and his average of 22.50 highlighted his struggles. Despite hitting a decent strike rate of 139.17, Iyer’s performances weren’t enough to guide KKR to victories, especially in crucial moments.
Rinku Singh’s IPL 2025 season was a tale of frustration. The middle-order batter scored 133 runs in eight games, with an average of 33.25, but his inconsistency was evident. His best innings, 38*, couldn’t disguise the fact that his contribution was often not enough, despite a respectable strike rate of 146.15. KKR was desperately in need of more from him in the middle overs.
Rishabh Pant, despite his immense potential, was one of the season's most disappointing players. Managing just 106 runs from nine matches at an average of 13.25, Pant’s form was nowhere near his usual destructive self. His strike rate of 96.36 was far below his usual standards, and his failure to play match-winning knocks severely hampered Lucknow Super Giants’ batting efforts.
A poor season for Ramandeep Singh saw him score just 30 runs in eight matches, with an average of 7.50. His struggles with both bat and ball made him a liability for KKR. The lack of any significant impact in the games played left the team wanting more from the all-rounder.
Shami’s performances with the ball for SRH were disappointing, to say the least. Despite being one of the most experienced fast bowlers in the IPL, his numbers were shocking. With only six runs in eight matches and an economy rate of 10.70, Shami’s struggles with consistency and the inability to make breakthroughs put pressure on his team’s bowling attack.
Deshpande’s season with Rajasthan Royals was nothing short of disastrous. In eight matches, he scored only six runs, with an economy rate of 11.25 and an average of 45.00. His inability to bowl economically and take wickets in key moments made him one of the major disappointments in the IPL 2025 bowling department.
Once considered one of the best spinners in T20 cricket, Sunil Narine’s decline was evident this season. He picked up just seven wickets in seven games at an economy rate of 7.60. His performances with both bat and ball fell well short of expectations, as he failed to contribute consistently for KKR.
Pathirana’s lack of impact with the ball was glaring for CSK this season. Despite playing seven matches, his economy rate of 10.25 and average of 36.14 suggested that the Sri Lankan pacer struggled to make breakthroughs. His lack of control and inability to bowl in the death overs left CSK with one of the weakest bowling attacks of the season.
Ravindra Jadeja’s struggles were evident throughout the season. Despite playing in all nine matches for CSK, Jadeja could only manage six wickets and a poor batting average of 31.33. His lack of impact with the ball and failure to provide the crucial breakthroughs made him one of the major flops of IPL 2025.
In a season where some players were expected to be the difference-makers, the above Flop XI failed to deliver when it mattered the most. While they have the potential to bounce back, IPL 2025 will remain a season they'd rather forget.
