Chennai Super Kings are experiencing a challenging season in the IPL 2025. Despite starting with a win against Mumbai Indians, they have struggled since, losing five out of six matches.
Their current position is ninth on the points table, with only two points to their name and the five-time IPL champions are already staring at an early exit.

In their recent match at Chepauk, CSK faced a disappointing defeat. They were restricted to their lowest-ever home total against KKR as they could only 103 runs. The Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target in just 10.1 overs, leaving CSK fans disheartened and in sheer concern.
Former CSK player Subramaniam Badrinath expressed sympathy for the loyal fans who continue to support the team despite its poor performance.
"CSK fans deserve better," he stated in social media. Badrinath played six seasons with CSK, scoring 1441 runs and winning two titles.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth, a former India cricketer, suggested that CSK should consider making changes to their lineup. He compared their batting against KKR to a Test match practice session and proposed trying unsold players like Prithvi Shaw.
"Even chaos is a strategy?" he questioned on X.
The return of MS Dhoni as captain after Ruturaj Gaikwad's injury has not improved CSK's fortunes. Fans had high hopes for Dhoni's leadership, but the team continues to struggle in this IPL season. As CSK attempts to regain form, they face mounting pressure from fans and experts alike. The team's management may need to explore new strategies and player combinations to turn their season around effectively.
It is unknown if the franchise will be bringing in a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad. The India batter's absence is a major blow but CSK are yet to name a replacement. Amid this, they will play Lucknow Super Giants in their next match on Monday (April 14).
Chennai Super Kings have lost five of their first six matches and that has significantly damaged their playoff prospects. The 2023 IPL champions are still mathematically eligible to reach the playoffs, but for that, they will have to win at least six of their remaining eight encounters.
After winning the IPL 2023, CSK failed to qualify for playoffs last year as well. There have been a few troubling issues for them and the Yellow Army will have rectify as soon as possible.
