Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated players in IPL history. He can take pride in the fact that he has recorded the most runs in the tournament with a staggering 8,004 runs. On top of that, he is also the first and only cricketer to surpass the 8,000-run mark in the IPL.
On the other hand, David Warner has proven time and again that he is one of the most formidable players in the IPL. The experienced campaigner is the fourth-leading run-getter in the IPL with 6565 runs, including 663 fours and 236 sixes.

While King Kohli has been a dominant force in the tournament for leading the batting charts, David Warner has quietly outclassed him in four areas, proving his own worth in India's premier T20 competition.
1. Most Fifties in IPL: David Warner's consistency in the IPL is unmatched, particularly when it comes to scoring fifties. Warner has hit a record 62 fifties, the most by a batsman in the tournament's history. On the other side of the coin, Kohli comes next on the list with 55 fifties.
However, Kohli has more centuries (8) to his name compared to Warner's four. The Australian's knack for getting those fifties have often sets the tone for the team, paving the way for big totals.
2. Superior Strike Rate: When it comes to strike rate, David Warner has an edge over Virat Kohli. Warner is known for his aggressive stroke-play wherein he scores runs at a rate of knots, mounting pressure on the opposition from the get-go.
Rightly so, he has maintained a pretty impressive strike rate of 139.77, which is significantly higher than Virat's 131.97. With lofty standards of punching and counter-punching techniques, Warner has often turned the tide in favor of his team, particularly in tight situations.
3. Personal Best Score in IPL: Although Virat Kohli has more centuries to his name, Warner holds the advantage as far as the highest individual score is concerned. While playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Warner registered his personal best score of 126 (59) against Kolkata Knight Riders, which came in a winning cause as SRH won by 48 runs in Hyderabad.
On the other hand, Kohli's personal best score of an unbeaten 113 (50) came against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2016, which RCB won by 82 runs (D/L method).
4. Impressive Batting Average: David Warner and Virat Kohli have both been exceptional performers in the IPL, but Warner holds a slight edge when it comes to batting average. Warner has a batting average of 40.52 whereas Kohli has a solid average of 38.66.
In the last two seasons, Kohli has brought the best out of himself, averaging 53.25 in IPL 2023 and 61.75 in IPL 2024 respectively. On the other hand, Warner's batting average witnessed a decline in the last two seasons as he averaged 36.86 and 21.
