Gary Kirsten has left as Pakistan's ODI and T20I coach just six months after signing a two-year contract.
Kirsten resigned from his role, as confirmed by PCB on Monday (October 28) as Jason Gillespie has replaced him at the helm. Kirsten's stint at Pakistan saw him coach them for just four matches in the T20I World Cup, and he didn't even feature for a single 50-over match.

Amid his unceremonious departure from Pakistan, the immediate question arises if the South African is now aiming for a return. The 56-year-old will be looking to seek pastures new, and a potential return in the IPL fold can't be ruled out.
The South African previously served as the coach and mentor for Gujarat Titans, and he might reunite with the team in IPL 2025. In 2022, Gary Kirsten took on the role of batting coach and mentor for Gujarat Titans. Under his guidance, the team, led by Hardik Pandya, clinched the IPL trophy in his debut season.
Ashish Nehra is currently leading GT as head coach. There were speculations about Parthiv Patel being considered for the batting coach position. However, no official announcements have been made regarding the support staff for IPL 2025. And at the moment, Kirsten's return to the Titans can materialize in the coming weeks.
Kolkata Knight Riders have lost three of its coaching staff after Gautam Gambhir's departure. Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate have also left the helm, leaving a huge void. Although Dwayne Bravo has been roped in as a mentor, Kirsten can slot in perfectly as a batting coach for the Knight Riders.
RCB are also a team that may be keen to bring in someone like Gary Kirsten at the helm. The South African has worked with the franchise before and his vast knowledge can be hugely beneficial for the team.
Delhi Capitals can also be a potential destination for the just former Pakistan coach. DC brought in Hemang Badani as head coach and Kirsten may serve them as a mentor. The former South Africa player knows the pulse of Indian cricket and that can be a massive boon for the Capitals in IPL 2025.
