Gujarat Titans will be hoping for a turnaround in the IPL 2025 season after a dismal outing last year. And ahead of that, they have appointed their former player Matthew Wade as an assistant coach ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
The former Australian wicketkeeper-batter was part of GT's squad for two seasons-2022 and 2024. However, he chose not to participate in the IPL 2025 auction following his retirement from international cricket, opting instead to explore coaching opportunities.

The franchise announced Wade's appointment on Saturday via their social media handle X.
His last full season as a player with GT came in 2022, the year they clinched their maiden IPL title. He will now work alongside head coach Ashish Nehra, batting coach Parthiv Patel, and assistant coaches Aashish Kapoor and Narender Negi.
Wade, a seasoned Australian cricketer, enjoyed a successful career across formats. Known for his gritty batting and leadership skills, he played a crucial role in Australia's T20 World Cup victory in 2021, notably guiding them to the final with a match-winning knock in the semifinal against Pakistan. In the IPL, Wade was first associated with the Delhi Daredevils in 2011 but had a limited impact. Upon joining the Titans in 2022, the southpaw won the title in his first year. Wade, interestingly, was also part of Australia squad which won the ICC World Cup in 2023 on Indian soil.
As the IPL 2025 is around the corner, Gujarat Titans will be aiming to make a positive start. The Shubman Gill-led team will commence their journey with a home match against Punjab Kings on March 25.
