Torrent Group, a leading diversified conglomerate with a strong presence in the Healthcare and Energy sectors, has successfully completed the acquisition of a 67% majority stake in Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans from Irelia Company Pte Ltd.
The transaction, which was subject to necessary approvals-including clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)-has now been finalized.

The acquisition marks a significant shift in the ownership structure of Gujarat Titans, who made their IPL debut in 2022 and achieved instant success by winning the title in their very first season under the leadership of Hardik Pandya and the guidance of head coach Ashish Nehra. The franchise, based out of Ahmedabad, has quickly become one of the most formidable teams in the league, consistently performing at the highest level.
The initial agreement for the stake sale was announced on 12th February 2025, when Torrent and Irelia signed definitive agreements, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Now, with all formalities completed, Torrent officially takes over as the majority stakeholder.
Despite the majority stake transfer, Irelia-managed by funds advised by CVC Capital Partners will continue to hold a 33% minority stake, ensuring continuity in the franchise's growth strategy. This allows Irelia to retain a significant presence in the IPL, where Gujarat Titans have quickly built a strong fan base.
Gujarat Titans entered the IPL in 2022 as one of two new franchises, alongside Lucknow Super Giants, following a record-breaking auction process where the team was acquired by CVC for ₹5,625 crore ($750 million). They made an immediate impact, winning the championship in their debut season and finishing as runners-up in 2023.
With a home base at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world's largest cricket stadium, Gujarat Titans have established themselves as a powerhouse in the IPL. Shubman Gill will be leading the Titans in the IPL 2025 season.
