The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a stage for young talents to shine, and this year, Punjab Kings have secured one of the most promising young batters in the country-Priyansh Arya. The 24-year-old, who has been playing cricket since the age of nine, is set to make his IPL debut after being picked up in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Excitement runs high for Arya, who is eager to step into the Punjab Kings dressing room and learn from some of the biggest names in the game. One name that stands out for him is none other than head coach Ricky Ponting.

"I am really excited to meet head coach Ricky Ponting. I love his pull shot. Apart from that, I am also excited to meet Shreyas. I love his attitude and the way he walks. I have never met Shreyas earlier. I think he is a great leader, he has won IPL and all domestic trophies as a captain. So I feel he is the best leader," Arya shared enthusiastically.
Arya turned heads in August 2024 when he achieved a rare feat in Delhi's domestic T20 league-smashing six sixes in an over. This historic moment made him only the fourth Indian cricketer to accomplish such a feat, instantly propelling him into the limelight.
Recalling the electrifying moment, Arya revealed that a special message awaited him after his record-breaking performance.
"After three sixes, I believed that I could hit six sixes as well, as my partner Ayush Badoni was hitting four to five sixes in an over, in every match. After I did so, Suryakumar Yadav messaged me and said that my batting was total entertainment and asked me to keep believing in myself. It was quite motivating for me."
Despite his heroics in the domestic circuit, Arya faced disappointment when he went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction. However, the young batter refused to be disheartened and continued to put in the hard work, keeping his focus on improving his game.
"I felt bad about not being selected. This year, again, I had a lot of expectations from the auctions but I was not thinking about it and was focused on Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 matches. After I was picked by Punjab Kings, I was elated but could not celebrate much as I continued to focus on the tournaments. I will surely celebrate soon."
