IPL 2025: 'It's an Amazing Feeling' – CSK Veteran MS Dhoni Reacts to Fans Appreciation All Across The Country

Every time Mahendra Singh Dhoni has stepped out on the field for an Indian Premier League (IPL) match over the last few seasons, the decibel levels produced have been at an all-time high as fans roar into cheers and whistles regardless of where the game is being played in the country.

With the veteran wicketkeeper-batter having already retired from international cricket, fans throng to stadiums to get the glimpse of the former Indian two-time World Cup-winning captain when he represents the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL.

MS Dhoni, who captained CSK to five titles, was retained by the Chennai-based franchise ahead of the auction, giving fans at least another few years of witnessing the seasoned campaigner in action on the field.

In a recent chat with JioHotstar, Dhoni has expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from IPL fans over the years sharing, "It's a big thank you to all my fans."

Dhoni acknowledged the appreciation shown by fans and reflected on how it feels to play in front of such dedicated supporters. He said, "Last few years I've been in, and I will be playing. It's a way of them saying, 'Thank you very much for whatever you have done,' and it's amazing."

Highlighting the special bond between him and his fans, Dhoni added, "I have always said it's a big 'thank you' from the fans' side. That's what I believe. Whatever last few years I'm in and will be playing, it's a way of them saying, 'Thank you very much for whatever you have done,' and it's amazing."

Dhoni also emphasised the unmatched excitement of playing cricket in India, where fans' passion for the game stands out and further spoke about how amazing a feeling it is to be backed by the supporters of even opposition teams.

"Especially when you play a sport, what you want is the fans' appreciation. And when it comes to cricket, India is the place to play. Being part of the Indian cricket team is one of the biggest things," Dhoni added.

"I'm not playing international cricket, so IPL is the next best thing to happen. Whenever you walk in, everybody is very excited, they're waiting for you, they want you to do well - even at times when you're playing against the team that they want to win, but they still want you to perform, contribute a bit, whatever it may be. It's an amazing feeling."

At 43, Dhoni is still going strong and continues to play a crucial role for CSK, the five-time IPL champions. Known for his finishing abilities, he still showcases some of his power-hitting skills.

As far as the records go, Dhoni is just 19 runs away from becoming CSK's highest run-scorer in the IPL, which is currently held by another fan favourite, Suresh Raina, who had amassed 4,687 runs for the Chennai Super Kings before his retirement.
