The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have strengthened their coaching staff ahead of the 2025 TATA Indian Premier League by appointing Ottis Gibson as assistant coach.
Gibson, a former Barbadian fast bowler with over 650 first-class wickets, represented the West Indies in Tests and ODIs between 1995 and 1999 before transitioning into coaching.

Ottis Delroy Gibson, born on March 16, 1969, in Saint James, Barbados, is a former West Indian cricketer and a seasoned cricket coach. Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, Gibson was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast bowler. His international playing career spanned from 1995 to 1999, during which he appeared in two Test matches and 15 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the West Indies.
Gibson served as England's bowling coach during two periods (2007-2010 and 2015-2017), was head coach of the West Indies from 2010 to 2014-leading them to an ICC World T20 title in 2012-and later became South Africa's head coach from 2017 to 2019. More recently, he has been involved in various T20 franchise coaching roles.
Mentor: Dwayne Bravo, a former West Indies all-rounder who retired from professional cricket in September 2024 and joined KKR as a mentor.
Head Coach: Chandrakant Pandit, an esteemed figure in Indian domestic cricket with a proven track record of coaching success.
Bowling Coach: Bharat Arun, who previously served as the bowling coach for the Indian national team.
Spin-Bowling Coach: Carl Crowe, known for his expertise in spin bowling and his work with various T20 franchises.
KKR are set to commence their title defense on March 22, facing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This match marks the beginning of the 2025 IPL season, which will conclude with the final also at Eden Gardens on May 25.
