Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane and head coach Chandrakant Pandit visited the iconic Kalighat Temple in Kolkata to seek blessings ahead of the IPL 2025 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
The duo was seen performing a special puja, praying for a successful campaign as KKR aims to retain the IPL trophy.

Rahane, who was appointed KKR captain for the season, exuded calmness and devotion as he took part in the rituals. Known for his composed demeanor, the veteran batter has taken on the responsibility of leading the two-time champions with a determined mindset.
Rahane was accompanied with his wife and the duo was captured offering prayers to Goddess Kali ahead of the IPL 2025 opener.
The visit to Kalighat Temple, a revered site dedicated to Goddess Kali, is believed to bring good fortune and strength, something the team will need as they face a formidable RCB side at Eden Gardens.
KKR are the defending champions and will be pressing to make a positive start to their season. Rahane has taken the helm this year after the departure of Shreyas Iyer. On the other hand, head coach Chandrakant Pandit continues his stint with the Knight Riders, albeit with a new coaching staff this season.
It will be a huge encounter for the three-time IPL champions who need a positive start to the campaign. RCB, under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, will be keen to spoil the Knight Riders party in Kolkata and secure a victory for themselves.
The match will be played on Saturday (March 22) in Kolkata and ahead of the match, there is a significant rain scare. The city of joy has seen a fair share of rainfall in the last few days and the IPL 2025 opener can also face the wrath of nature.
