KKR vs LSG IPL 2025 Awards List: Kolkata Knight Riders suffered an agonizing defeat at the Eden Gardens as they lost by just 4 runs against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday (April 8).
The Knight Riders made a valiant effort chasing 239 runs, but couldn't manage to chase the high score in a crucial match, which keeps them out of the top four in the points table.

Powered by Nicholas Pooran's explosive unbeaten 87 and a disciplined final over under pressure, LSG posted 238/3 and then survived a spirited chase from KKR, who fell just short at 234/7.
After being asked to bat first, LSG came out with clear intent. Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh stitched together a solid 99-run opening partnership, laying the platform for a massive total. Markram's 28-ball 47 set the early tempo, while Marsh anchored the innings with a well-compiled 52.
KKR's bowlers, despite the early breakthroughs, struggled to contain the LSG batters. Harshit Rana was the most successful among them with two wickets but proved expensive, conceding 51 runs in his four overs. The spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy also went wicketless and failed to stem the flow of runs.
Chasing a daunting 239, KKR began brightly with skipper Ajinkya Rahane leading from the front. His 61 anchored the innings, while Venkatesh Iyer added a quickfire 45 to keep the hosts in the hunt. The required rate climbed steadily, but KKR kept themselves alive with regular boundaries.
With 24 needed off the final over, Rinku Singh nearly pulled off a miracle. The left-hander smashed 38 off just 15 balls, and brought the equation down to 6 off the final delivery. But his last-ball heave landed inches short of the boundary rope, handing LSG a thrilling win and sending their dugout into wild celebrations.
The defeat will sting for KKR, who came tantalizingly close to pulling off the highest successful chase in IPL history. For LSG, the win solidifies their credentials as genuine title contenders, and Nicholas Pooran's form could not have peaked at a better time.
Lucknow Super Giants: 238/3 in 20 overs (Pooran 87*, Marsh 52, Markram 47)
Kolkata Knight Riders: 234/7 in 20 overs (Rahane 61, Iyer 45, Rinku 38)
Result: LSG won by 4 runs
Ajinkya Rahane (KKR captain): A really tight one (game). As I said at the toss, the wicket remained good throughout the 40 overs. We gave our best, it was a great game, in the end we were just 4 runs short. When you are chasing 230-plus, you will lose wickets in the chase. This was one of the best wickets to bat on. Batters had to take a little time to get in. The bowling attack we have, we control our middle-overs really well. Sunil (Narine) was struggling with the ball. Sunil and Varun usually dominate the middle overs, but it was tough for the bowlers today.
Rishabh Pant (LSG captain): I think when we batted we didn't realise it will get this close but after the powerplay we did. After the first timeout we went to the bowlers and told them to stick to the plans, not try too many things and do the basics right. That was very conscious (to slow down the game), when the game is going down at that pace you need to do something, it works sometimes and sometimes it does not work. (On promoting Abdul Samad to No. 4) We wanted to keep the right-left combination going. The back is fine now.
