IPL 2025: List of Players to Play 250 Matches – Ravindra Jadeja Joins Elite Club with Dhoni, Rohit, Kohli, and Karthik

IPL 2025: In a tournament known for birthing legends and rewriting cricketing folklore, Ravindra Jadeja has etched his name in yet another golden chapter. On Tuesday night against Punjab Kings.

The Chennai Super Kings’ talisman became only the fifth player in IPL history to feature in 250 matches — joining an illustrious club that includes MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Dinesh Karthik.

Jadeja's journey in the IPL is not just about longevity, but also adaptability, resilience, and impact. From being the exuberant "Rockstar" under Shane Warne’s mentorship at Rajasthan Royals in 2008, to being CSK’s trusted finisher and bowling enforcer in 2025, the left-hander has aged like fine wine. With the bat, the ball, and on the field, Jadeja continues to remain one of the league's most valuable assets even at the back end of his career.

Milestone Update:

  • 250 IPL Matches – Ravindra Jadeja
  • Runs: 3,142
  • Wickets: 166
  • Franchises: RR, KTK, GL, CSK
  • IPL Debut: 2008
  • Best Moment: Winning 2023 final with bat in hand

The 250-match milestone marks a rare achievement in the cash-rich league, where only the most consistent and fitness-savvy players survive the churn of formats and form. MS Dhoni leads the list with 274 matches, followed by Rohit Sharma (266), Virat Kohli (262), and Dinesh Karthik (257). Jadeja now joins them, underscoring his unwavering commitment to excellence.

It’s been quite the ride. After his early days with Rajasthan Royals, a one-year hiatus due to a ban in 2010 seemed a potential derailment. But Jadeja returned stronger with Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011, and then made the pivotal move to Chennai Super Kings in 2012 — a franchise that would go on to define his IPL legacy. A two-season stint with Gujarat Lions (2016–17) during CSK's suspension couldn’t break the bond, as Jadeja returned to CSK in 2018 and hasn’t looked back since.

Rank Player Matches
1 MS Dhoni 274
2 Rohit Sharma 266
3 Virat Kohli 262
4 Dinesh Karthik 257
5 Ravindra Jadeja 250*

He even took over captaincy from Dhoni in 2022, a role he relinquished mid-season, but it demonstrated the franchise's faith in his leadership credentials.

Statistically, Jadeja's numbers do full justice to his stature. Across his IPL career, he has amassed 3,142 runs at an average of 27.32 and a strike-rate of 129.62. With the ball, he has 166 wickets, including three four-fors and a memorable fifer. His crowning glory came in the 2023 IPL final, when he clobbered a six and a four off the last two balls to win the title for CSK in one of the most dramatic finishes in IPL history.

Currently batting at number four for CSK in IPL 2025, Jadeja remains a pillar in a side transitioning into a new era. Even now, he continues to deliver with ball in hand and is one of only two players to take 100-plus wickets for CSK. He is also the only cricketer to have crossed both 3,000 runs and 100 wickets in the IPL — a true all-round feat.

As the applause rang out at the toss and fans in yellow roared his name, Jadeja stood tall — calm, composed, and ever ready. For a player whose career has been a blend of fire and finesse, this latest milestone only reaffirms what fans and foes already knew: Ravindra Jadeja is a giant of the IPL.
