IPL 2025: LSG Triumph Over MI in High-Scoring Thriller, Win by 12 Runs

Lucknow Super Giants secured a 12-run victory over Mumbai Indians in the 16th match of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. After being asked to bat first, LSG posted a competitive total of 203/8 in 20 overs.

Mitchell Marsh provided an explosive start with 60 off 31 balls, hitting nine fours and three sixes. Aiden Markram anchored the innings with a steady 53 off 38 balls. Ayush Badoni contributed 30 off 19, while David Miller added a quick 27 off 14.

Hardik Pandya was Mumbai's standout bowler, picking up five wickets for 36 runs. Vignesh Puthur and Trent Boult took one wicket each.

In response, MI had a shaky start as Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton fell early. Naman Dhir played a counterattacking knock of 46 off 24 balls to revive the innings. Suryakumar Yadav led the chase with a brilliant 67 off 43 balls, including 11 fours and a six.

Tilak Varma retired out after scoring 25 off 23, while Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 28 off 16 balls. LSG bowlers kept their composure, with Shardul Thakur picking up a wicket for 40 runs. Akash Deep and Avesh Khan took one wicket each, while Digvesh Rathi impressed with his economical spell of 1/21 in four overs.

Mumbai Indians fell short of the target, finishing at 191/5 in 20 overs. LSG successfully defended their total to register an important win. Digvesh was named Player of the Match for his economical bowling that turned the game around. This victory strengthens LSG's position in the tournament, while MI will need to bounce back in their upcoming matches. After this match, Mumbai are in 7th position, while Lucknow occupy the 6th place.

Mumbai next play RCB on Monday, 7th April at the Wankhede, while Lucknow go head-to-head with Kolkata at the Eden Gardens in an afternoon game.
