IPL 2025, LSG vs SRH: What was the Turning Point as Sunrisers Hyderabad Clinch a Six-Wicket Win?

IPL 2025, LSG vs SRH: In a high-octane contest at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a stunning six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants, thanks largely to a sensational 82-run partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan that turned the game on its head.

Chasing a formidable 206, SRH needed something extraordinary at the top. Enter Abhishek Sharma. The left-hander lit up the Lucknow evening with a whirlwind knock of 59 off just 20 balls, including 4 fours and 6 towering sixes, bludgeoning the LSG bowlers into submission.

IPL 2025 LSG vs SRH What was the Turning Point as Sunrisers Hyderabad Clinch a Six-Wicket Win

His aggressive strokeplay paired beautifully with Ishan Kishan’s composed 35 off 28, as the duo raced to 99 runs in a mere 7.3 overs, effectively dismantling any early advantage LSG hoped to cling to.

Turning Point: Abhishek-Ishan Show Steals the Powerplay Spotlight

When Atharva Taide fell early, LSG briefly hoped for a window of control. But what followed was a relentless exhibition of strokeplay that shattered their plans. Abhishek and Ishan stitched together a match-defining stand in just 22 balls, smacking boundaries at will and running the LSG fielders ragged. By the time Abhishek holed out in the eighth over, SRH were already past 90 and cruising.

It wasn't just the brute force — the calculated aggression and smart running between the wickets kept the pressure firmly on the fielding side. Abhishek’s 50 came off just 18 balls, leaving even the Lucknow crowd in stunned applause.

LSG’s Power-Packed Start Goes in Vain

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants posted a competitive 205/7 after being put in to bat. Mitchell Marsh (65 off 39) and Aiden Markram (61 off 38) were in sublime touch, putting on 115 for the first wicket. Both notched up brisk fifties, taking the SRH bowlers to task with clean hitting and smart placement.

Nicholas Pooran added a quickfire 45, but SRH pulled things back well at the death. Eshan Malinga (2/28) and Harsh Dubey (1/44) ensured the final overs weren’t as fruitful as they could have been, with LSG managing just 11 runs and losing three wickets in the last over-and-a-half.

“They were going at 11s at one stage, but we pulled it back nicely. 205 was still a big ask, but our openers turned it into a powerplay chase,” said SRH skipper Pat Cummins.

Hyderabad’s Chase Ends in Style

With the Ishan-Abhishek pair setting the tempo, the rest was routine for SRH. Heinrich Klaasen (47 off 28) and Kamindu Mendis (32* off 21, retired hurt) ensured there were no hiccups as they took the game deep before sealing the win with 10 balls to spare.

Lucknow’s bowlers had no answers to the onslaught. Ravi Bishnoi had a forgettable outing, leaking 26 in his sole over, while Shardul Thakur’s lone wicket of Klaasen came far too late to cause real damage. Digvesh Rathi was the only real bright spot, picking up 2/37 and showing good control amid the carnage.

Final Score:
LSG: 205/7 (20 overs) – Marsh 65, Markram 61, Malinga 2/28
SRH: 206/4 (18.2 overs) – Abhishek 59, Ishan 35, Klaasen 47
Result: Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 6 wickets
Player of the Match: Abhishek Sharma (SRH)
