The eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League - IPL 2025 got underway on March 22, when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
And like every other cricket match or the previous editions of the IPL, there were several outstanding performances in the game, leading to one player walking away with the Man of the Match award.

In any sport, Man of the Match or Player of the Match award is given to a player for his/her outstanding performance or to the one who makes the most impact in a match. Sometimes, the award is given to the best performer even if the player is on the losing side.
While the result of the match doesn't always come into consideration in deciding the man of the match, the player of the match award has been won by a player of the winning side in most games.
In IPL 2025, RCB debutant Krunal Pandya won the first player of the match award for his 4 for 29 spell, while the trend of players winning the man of the match award on their debut for new teams continued as Ishan Kishan, Noor Ahmad, Ashutosh Sharma, Quinton de Kock and Shardul Thakur won the MoM awards for their new teams.
A total of 74 matches will be played during the course of IPL season 18, and here we will update the player of the match award winners from every match right after the completion of the match and the presentation ceremony:

Several players can catch up on the record holder for most man of the match awards won in IPL history, while few Indian players also could catch up on Indians with most player of the match awards in the Indian Premier League.
IPL legends Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and David Warner will look to get closer to greats AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle's tally for most man of the match awards in IPL history. There are several players who have won more than 10 player of the match awards in IPL history.
Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals player AB de Villiers has won the most player of the match awards in IPL, having bagged the MoM 25 times followed by his teammate, former West Indies great Chris Gayle, who won the man of the match award 22 times in IPL.
Current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma tops the leaderboard for most MOTM won in IPL by winning the award 20 times followed by a couple of ex India captains Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, who have won the man of the match awards 19 and 18 times respectively.
Meanwhile, the likes of Andre Russell, Shuman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja will all look to catch up on the leaders in the games to come. Here is a look at the most Man of the match award winners in IPL:
