We are almost a month to the IPL 2025 and a fresh issue has been notified by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the franchises.
Amid the cricket extravaganza, the match-fixing shocker is looming as the BCCI has sent strict guidelines to all the teams and players.

The warning is aimed at preempting possible corrupt approaches from a businessman based in Hyderabad with a known history of links to betting syndicates.
As per a report from Cricbuzz, the BCCI's Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) has flagged this individual as a potential threat to the integrity of the tournament. According to the ACSU's internal alerts, the businessman- whose identity remains confidential but is already known to anti-corruption officials, has resurfaced with renewed attempts to penetrate the IPL ecosystem.
His modus operandi includes cultivating personal relationships with key personnel across franchises under the guise of fandom.
What has raised alarms is the pattern of his behavior. He has allegedly been spotted near team hotels, at match venues, and at post-match gatherings, trying to establish rapport with players, coaching staff, commentators, and even family members of franchise stakeholders. The ACSU suspects that he is attempting to lure individuals through gifts and luxury amenities.
One of the more disturbing elements of this threat is the strategic targeting of individuals beyond the playing squad. The businessman is believed to be focusing on family members of players, owners, and staff- both domestic and international. Reports indicate that he has tried to contact some of them through social media platforms and even proposed meetings at upscale venues to lower their guard.
Amid this, the ACSU has made it clear to all franchises that any such approach, regardless of its subtlety, must be reported immediately. Silence or delayed reporting could severely compromise the league's anti-corruption framework.
A player or a staff will have to report the incident as soon as possible if any approaches come forward from any of the suspicious personnel.
The BCCI has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance approach to corruption in cricket and has called for the complete cooperation of all IPL participants. The message is clear - even the slightest breach of ethical conduct could have far-reaching consequences.
