New Delhi, May 7: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have officially announced the signing of veteran India batter Mayank Agarwal as an injury replacement for Devdutt Padikkal for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The move comes after Padikkal suffered a right hamstring injury, ruling him out of action.
Padikkal featured in 10 matches this season for RCB, scoring 247 runs, including two crucial half-centuries. His performances had been a mix of highs and lows, with key knocks of 61 against Punjab Kings and 50 against Rajasthan Royals, but his campaign has been cut short at a pivotal stage for RCB.

RCB have roped in Mayank Agarwal for a sum of INR 1 Crore. The Karnataka stalwart brings with him vast IPL experience, having played 127 matches and scored 2,661 runs, including one century and 13 fifties. Agarwal's experience and versatility at the top order could prove crucial as RCB gear up for a final push towards the playoffs.
Currently placed second in the points table with 16 points from 11 matches, RCB will next face Lucknow Super Giants on May 9 in Lucknow. Their last two league matches are scheduled at their home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, against Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In other news, Delhi Capitals have signed 23-year-old Afghan batter Sediqullah Atal as a replacement for Harry Brook, who has withdrawn from the tournament. Atal, known for his explosive stroke play, recently starred with an 85-run knock against Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy and has already played 49 T20s, amassing 1,507 runs at an average of 34.25.
Atal shot to fame during the Kabul Premier League 2023, where he smashed 48 runs in a single over and struck an unbeaten 118 off 56 balls. His remarkable form included a 103-run blitz in the tournament final, further cementing his reputation as one of Afghanistan's most exciting young talents.
