As the IPL 2025 mega auction takes place, Shreyas Iyer is listed as one of the marquee players.
Shreyas Iyer has had an impressive IPL career, which is marked by his leadership and batting skills.

A reliable middle-order batter, Iyer first made a significant impact playing for the Delhi Capitals (previously Delhi Daredevils), where he was their captain from 2018 to 2020. Under his captaincy, Delhi reached their first-ever IPL final in 2020, a historic achievement for the franchise.
In 2022, Iyer moved to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after being acquired for Rs 12.25 crore, becoming their captain. Despite KKR's inconsistent performance, Iyer's individual contributions stood out. In IPL 2022, he amassed 401 runs in 14 matches with an average of 30.85 and a strike rate of over 134.
After missing out on IPL 2023 due to an injury, Iyer led KKR to their third IPL title in IPL 2024. But his stay with KKR seems to be short-lived as the player is not retained and set to be in the auction.
The India batter will be one of the biggest names in the auction list as he will have multiple suitors at the auction extravaganza. Iyer is one of the flagship targets in the auction and many teams will be ready to break the bank for him. Also he scored a superb century against Goa in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Saturday (Nov 23), further bolstering his stock.
The IPL 2025 mega auction will be held at the Saudi Arabian City of Jeddah on Sunday and Monday, respectively. Given that the first set of players will be auctioned on Sunday, it will include all the big names across the world. Shreyas Iyer is one of the 12 marquee players listed for this mega auction. He is on the Marquee 1 list and has a base price of Rs 2 crore.
As the auction starts at 3:30 pm IST on Sunday, Iyer can be the first pick in the auction, or the latest arrival of the India batter will be at number Six. Hence Iyer is likely to be named at around 3:30 to 4:30 pm on Sunday (November 24).
