“It's a big thing for me to get this opportunity and get the Man of the Match. My native place is in Mohali district. It has taken a lot of hard work and by God's grace, I'm here. I had full confidence but still, there's always nervousness before a game. Whatever opportunities I get, I will make people proud back home.”
“Very satisfying to win, especially at home. The way we did it, as a group, everyone chipped in - can't be happier. This wicket just offered a bit more and we thought Ashwani can come in and bowl the way he bowled.”
“First of all, it's all because of the scouts. All MI scouts have gone all the places and picked these young kids. We played a practice game and it looked like he had that zip and late swing, had a different action and plus he is a leftie.”
“The way he took that wicket of Russell was a very crucial wicket. And especially, how he started with that catch of Quinton. It was great to see a fast bowler jumping that high.”
“I took my time, I just had to lay bat on it, to be honest, the ball was moving around, lucky to have got some runs. Chatting to the guys back in South Africa about the Wankhede, it does a bit, it’s challenging but looking forward to getting out again and trying to maximise the pace on offer.”
“It’s unbelievable, I have never been to the Wankhede before, the crowd turned the stadium blue, definitely going to enjoy my time here.”
“Collective batting failure. It was a good wicket to bat on as I mentioned in the toss. 180-190 would have been good on this wicket. We got to learn really fast from this game. Couldn't do much with the ball. We kept on losing wickets. Four wickets in the powerplay. It was difficult to consolidate and get that total on the board.”
