IPL 2025, MI vs LSG Toss Update: The Wankhede Stadium is buzzing as Mumbai Indians lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants in Match 45 of the Indian Premier League 2025. With both teams neck-and-neck on the points table, today's clash promises to be a high-stakes affair.
Mumbai, riding the wave of a four-match winning streak, will be keen to keep their momentum alive at home, while Lucknow, looking to steady their campaign after a couple of hiccups, will be eyeing a crucial away victory to break into the top four.

Scheduled for a 3:30 PM start under the sweltering Mumbai sun, the stage is perfectly set for a thrilling encounter. The Wankhede surface, known for its true bounce and quick outfield, should offer plenty of runs, but the heat and pitch conditions might bring the bowlers into play as the day wears on. Stay tuned for live updates, commentary, and all the drama as MI and LSG battle for supremacy in IPL 2025!
Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant called correctly at the toss and, without hesitation, decided to bowl first on a hot Mumbai afternoon.
"We are bowling first. In a day game you want to utilise the surface," Pant said with a wide smile. "We are in a good space and personally it's easier to put the team ahead, makes it easier. Eventually you want to play good cricket and take every day as your first day," he added.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was unfazed. Though he had initially planned to bowl too, he embraced the challenge of setting a total under the fierce Mumbai sun.
"We were planning to bowl, but looking at the heat - we don't mind batting as well. It's about adapting and not think too much about the heat. ESA game has always been very special, the initiative by Ambani has been very special and it gives us added motivation, let's give them (the children) a good show. The momentum always helps, but in IPL every game matters and do the right things. 2 changes. Karn Sharma comes in for Mitch Santner. Corbin Bosch makes his debut as well, Puthur misses out.."
Mumbai Indians have rung in two changes. Veteran spinner Karn Sharma replaces Mitchell Santner, while South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch makes his debut, coming in for Vignesh Puthur.
Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, have made a solitary tweak. The exciting Mayank Yadav comes into the playing XI, replacing the experienced Shardul Thakur.

Providing insights from pitch-side were Ian Bishop and Eoin Morgan, who painted a fascinating picture of the Wankhede strip.
"The pitch is in the centre, with 63-metre boundaries on either side and 73 metres down the ground," Bishop detailed. "There's a magnificent covering of grass, but underneath, it's quite dry."
Morgan added a tactical layer: "It might hold up a bit early on. Moisture retention has been a challenge for the ground staff. As the match progresses, the ball might slow up ever so slightly."
Historically, day games at Wankhede have seen an even split between teams batting first and chasing. With the heat likely to play a role, Morgan admitted it was a "big call" but hinted he would have preferred chasing too.
Will Jacks, who has been instrumental in Mumbai's recent four-match winning streak, spoke candidly ahead of the match.
"We found the right way to play our cricket. We were searching for it in the first few games," Jacks explained. "Having a settled eleven has helped massively, and we've found rhythm. Every time you play, it's a big occasion. You have to keep improving and show what you can do."
Jacks also touched upon personal motivation: "I've got a hell of a lot of things I want to achieve, and I need to keep getting better to do that."
It's a scorcher in Mumbai today, with temperatures hovering around 31°C. According to AccuWeather, there is a 0% chance of rain, ensuring uninterrupted action for fans across the globe.
The heat is expected to test the fitness and stamina of the players, particularly the bowlers during their spells.
The iconic Wankhede Stadium has maintained its reputation for offering a balanced contest between bat and ball this season. Of the four matches played here, teams chasing have won three.
With an average first innings score of 169 and second innings average close at 168, expect a high-scoring thriller where batting depth could well be the difference.
