IPL 2025: 'Money doesn't matter' - KKR boy Ramandeep Singh reveals Retention decision despite Rs 10 crore Offers

By MyKhel Staff

In a cricketing era where financial incentives often dictate career moves, KKR star Ramandeep Singh has set an example of unwavering loyalty.

The 27-year-old batter, who has also represented India, revealed that he turned down lucrative offers from other franchises to stay with Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.

KKR retained six of their stars this season. Apart from Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Rinku Singh, the three-time IPL champions also retained Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh as uncapped players (both have played for India since).

KKR retained Ramandeep for Rs 4 crore and the player was happy to stay at the franchise despite having offers up to Rs 10 crore from other franchises. Speaking about his decision, the cricketer emphasized the importance of sticking with the team that believed in him from the start.

"The franchise that has helped you, you shouldn't leave them at this time. You shouldn't leave them at all. If you are leaving just for money, then that is wrong," Ramandeep said on the Raj Shamani Podcast.

While multiple franchises were eager to acquire his services, he remained firm in his decision. "Yes, there were teams willing to go after me and even offering amounts up to 10 crore. But for me, money was never the driving factor. When I was nothing, KKR held my hand, and I wanted to give them my full support," he explained.

Having started his IPL journey on a modest Rs 20 lakh contract, Ramandeep understood the value of loyalty in a competitive league like the IPL and wanted to give his full loyalty to the Knight Riders.

"IPL is a platform where opportunities are important, and the franchise that backs you deserves your loyalty. Money doesn't matter that much. Obviously, money is important, but it never was about money[for me]. My dream has always been to represent India and to win the World Cup for the country," Ramandeep concluded.

The Punjab-born won the IPL 2024 title with KKR and also made his India debut in the T20I series against South Africa last year.
