Mumbai Indians have bolstered their squad with key signings ahead of the IPL 2025 Playoffs, the IPL announced on Tuesday (May 20).
The MI have brought in England's Jonny Bairstow, fast bowler Richard Gleeson, and Sri Lanka's Charith Asalanka as replacements for players departing for national duties.

Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch are all set to exit the MI camp after the conclusion of the league phase, with their respective national teams calling them up for upcoming international commitments. To cover for their absence in the crucial playoff phase, MI have moved swiftly to secure high-profile reinforcements.
Jonny Bairstow, the seasoned English wicketkeeper-batter, has been signed as a replacement for Will Jacks. Bairstow, who has vast IPL experience and a reputation for explosive starts at the top of the order, joins the Mumbai outfit at a price of INR 5.25 crore. His inclusion is expected to add significant firepower and experience to the MI batting line-up during the high-pressure playoff stage.
Meanwhile, Ryan Rickelton's departure has paved the way for another Englishman - pacer Richard Gleeson. Known for his ability to deliver hard lengths and bowl at the death, Gleeson has been brought in at a reserve price of INR 1 crore. His addition provides MI with a valuable pace option as they prepare for potential high-scoring knockout games.
In the all-round department, Sri Lankan left-handed batter Charith Asalanka has been named as the replacement for Corbin Bosch. Asalanka, a versatile player capable of anchoring innings or accelerating at will, was picked at a base price of INR 75 lakhs.
The replacement trio will be available only from the Playoffs stage, provided Mumbai Indians secure qualification. With these additions, MI have covered key bases and added international pedigree, aiming to enhance their title charge in the business end of the tournament.
If the Paltans win their match against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday (May 21), they will be through to the playoffs. If they lose it, then Hardik Pandya's team will have to depend on other results even if they win their last game against the Punjab Kings.
