IPL 2025: Nicholas Pooran, the Caribbean power-hitter and Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) batting cornerstone, etched his name into IPL folklore on Thursday by becoming the first player to hammer 100 sixes for the franchise.
The milestone came during Match 64 of the IPL 2025 season against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Arriving at the crease with the platform firmly set by Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram's 91-run opening stand, Pooran wasted no time.

With his trademark swagger, he launched the very first ball he faced into the stands, signalling a storm was brewing in Ahmedabad. It was on the fourth ball of the 15th over, bowled by R Sai Kishore, that Pooran reached the magical three-figure sixes landmark for LSG. The towering hit soared over long-on, drawing roars from the crowd and acknowledging a feat no other Super Giant had achieved.
The 29-year-old Trinidadian didn't stop there. He smashed five sixes in his unbeaten 56 off just 27 balls, also lacing his innings with four boundaries. His effort, combined with Marsh's fluent 78, saw LSG post a commanding total and secure a vital win in the playoff race.
Since joining LSG in 2023, Pooran has been their go-to man in pressure situations. Thursday's knock was his 14th IPL half-century, and he brought it up in just 23 deliveries. With this innings, he also became the fourth LSG player to notch 500+ runs in a single season, joining elite company in KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, and Marsh.
Pooran now has 40 sixes in IPL 2025, further solidifying his reputation as a T20 juggernaut. With 167 career IPL sixes and 2,280 runs at a strike rate of 169-plus, he's a nightmare for bowlers on flat Indian tracks.
Earlier this season, Pooran joined an exclusive T20 club by surpassing 600 sixes in all T20 formats, becoming only the fourth man to do so - all West Indians - alongside Chris Gayle (1,056), Kieron Pollard (908), and Andre Russell (747). He's amassed 9,153 T20 runs across 397 matches with 56 fifties and three centuries to his name.
LSG's faith in Pooran was reaffirmed ahead of the 2025 mega auction, retaining him for a staggering ₹21 crore, the highest for the franchise. And he's repaid every bit of it, not just with his six-hitting flair but with consistent match-winning knocks.
In a tournament brimming with standout performances, Nicholas Pooran's century of sixes for Lucknow Super Giants stands as a symbol of brute power, consistency, and flair. With the playoffs looming, LSG will be banking on their Caribbean talisman to continue lighting up the IPL skyline.
