The IPL 2025 is set to commence with a grand encounter as Kolkata Knight Riders are set to lock horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens on Saturday (March 22).

The grand spectacle at the city of Joy is set to be an eye-catching one, but in a first, the IPL opening ceremony will be taking place across all thirteen venues this season.

The Opening Ceremony in Kolkata is scheduled to start at 6 pm IST on Saturday evening. The fans will be able to witness it with their match ticket and the gates are expected to open in the afternoon, tentatively at 4 pm for the encounter.

The curtain-raiser event in Kolkata will be headlined by Bollywood actress Disha Patani, who is set to dazzle fans ahead of the opening clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Accompanying her will be renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal, adding a musical touch to the event. The ceremony will also have the presence of ICC chairman Jay Shah.

In an exciting move, the BCCI has planned similar ceremonies across different venues, bringing a star-studded lineup of Bollywood celebrities to entertain the fans. The likes of Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan, Katrina Kaif, Triptii Dimri, Ananya Panday, Madhuri Dixit, and Janhvi Kapoor are all set to grace various events throughout the tournament.

A source quoted by Sportstar revealed that multiple artists will perform at different locations. There will be performances across the season in between match innings.

"The idea is to have a varied pool of Bollywood artists performing for all the programmes, and with limited time in between the innings, two to three artists could be accommodated for these events," it was said.

Apart from the regular home grounds of the 10 IPL franchises, a few matches will also be played at alternate venues, including Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Dharamshala, and Mullanpur, which will serve as second homes for Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings.

Disha Patani, Shreya Ghoshal, Karan Aujla are set to be present at the event.

Apart from them, renowned Bollywood singer Arijit Singh, actor Varun Dhawan and pop band OneRepublic are also expected to perform in Kolkata for the opening ceremony.

The ceremony shall also have a laser show and performances which depict the art and culture of West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of the state, may also be attending the event with other dignitaries. All the top BCCI personnel and ICC chairman Jay Shah will also be present at the opening ceremony, as it was confirmed by CAB president Snehasish Ganguly.
